shrub

A shrub; branchlets glabrous, often with hooked prickles.
Leaves imparipinnate, the upper part of rachis slightly winged; leaflets of 2–6 pairs, sessile, opposite, coriaceous, oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 3–10 cm long, 1–2 cm broad, the terminal one largest, acuminate at apex, attenuate or cuneate at base, the lateral veins 7–16 on each side of the midrib, distinct, the midrib elevated on both surfaces, the margins crenate, pellucid-dotted.
Flowers dioecious, yellow, axillary, in panicles, about 1 mm long; pedicels 3 mm long. Male flowers: sepals 5–8, narrowly oblong, glabrous; petals wanting; stamens 5–8, exserted, the anthers introrse; rudimentary ovary present. Female flowers: ovary ovoid-oblong, with appendage; styles short, the stigma capitate.
Fruit ovoid, of 1–2 carpels, about 5 mm across, each vertically dehiscent into valves.
